Arsenal boss in an interview over the weekend hinted on his current position in the transfer window with the French boss insisting that he is not yet done recruiting for his side this summer.
Although the boss said he was glad with the progress and signings Arsenal have made so far in the transfer window after bringing in Barcelona forward – Alexis Sanchez and Newcastle right-back – Mathieu Debuchy all in a space of 8-days but further insisted that ‘there’s still a long way to go’.
The Boss while speaking to Arsenal’s official website said:
“I’m very happy with what I could do until now. It’s not over – there’s still a long way to go.”
“You are not the only one who decides that. Sometimes players that you want are available very late. You refer maybe to the Ozil case but at the same period last year, he was not available and became available very late. We’ll do the deals when it’s possible and that depends on three different opinions. This team we could do it early.”
The French boss who spent most part of his holiday working for French tv station as a commentator in the just concluded World Cup, while monitoring his various transfer targets has proved his scouting prowess by landing two first team stars who impressed for their national side at the tournament.
Wenger also confirmed his interest with signing another star (a goalkeeper) who impressed at the World Cup with many reports suggesting the David Ospina to Arsenal deal is done and will be Announced early this week.
“I will bring in a goalkeeper for sure.” Wenger said when asked if he wants to sign a goalkeeper.
Arsenal have been heavily linked with the Colombian shot stopper who is expected to bring with him experience as well as the much needed competition for current Gunner’s first choice goalkeeper.
The deal to bring the 25-year-old to the Emirates is said to be in the region of £3.1 million. With many pundits suggesting the deal is already in place, with a formal announcement by Arsenal imminent.
