Arsenal’s Next Summer Signing – 16 Goals & 12 Assists Star?

Often times when kids set their eyes on a new interesting toy, they loose interest in their former acquisitions and furiously demand for the new play thing. That seems to be the predicament of Arsene Wenger right now, as the performances of Roberto Firmino Barbosa de Oliveira has caught his eye.

According to the Express, Arsenal have made an enquiry about the availability of Firmino from his current club – Hoffenheim and are keen to add him to the star studded Attacking midfield.

It is also reported that Wenger is trying to reshuffle the Gunners midfield after seeing defensive midfield targets slip out of his hands and would recruit Jack Wilshere into the holding midfield role, while Firmino could be drafted into the attacking department If his deal comes to fruition.

The 22-year-old attacking midfielder is quite versatile hence he could play anywhere in the attack and also play as a false nine since he is very clinical and according to squawka had a conversion rate of 22.9% which is an outstanding stat for a player who often tests the goalkeeper.

He is a nightmare to the opposition defenders and definitely not the player who would shy away from taking-on a defender who dares him for a two-aside. Just in the 2013/2014 season, he completed an amazing stat of 147 take-ons. You can’t beat that.

Stop dreaming! He’s just 22 and doesn’t need the help of the media to grow his profile.

He was the creative hub of his club last season as he scored 16 goals and made 12 assists in the German Bundesliga from the midfield contributing over one-third of Hoffenheim’s league goals-either scoring or laying assists .

However Arsenal is not the only club to have discovered this gem, as it is also reported that Liverpool and Inter Milan are in line to gazump this deal.

let’s just hope Wenger has some words with this lad cause he has everything a club needs in a midfielder.

Do you agree with this move?
