Flamini Issues Stern Warning To His Teammates.

The Arsenal fans are having a wonderful summer transfer season, with the club having spent over £63 million pounds on 4 quality signings and Arsene Wenger still promising to still bring in more players. Long live this feeling!

However, preparations are being put in place for the upcoming season and the Players except the German World cup stars are now undergoing some rigorous fitness routines under new head fitness coach- Shad Forsythe, in readiness for the Community Shield clash against Manchester City on the 10th of this month.

But before that crucial tie, is the Emirates cup competition, taken place on the 2nd and 3rd of August against Benfica and AS Monaco respectively; a trophy Wenger wouldn’t trade even the Capital One Cup for.

Talking of the Emirates Cup, Mathieu Flamini has expressed his admiration for Benfica and has issued a warning to his teammates not to take the Portuguese giants for a joke.

Speaking to the Official Emirates Cup Programme, he said:

“Benfica are, with Porto, one of the best teams in Portugal, They will be a very strong side, they have a lot of quality and it was not a surprise that they qualified for the final of the Europa League.

“They are a strong side that play good football. It won’t be an easy game but we are getting closer to the first league match and it’s a good opportunity for us to evaluate how fit we are. It will be an interesting tournament for us.”

The player who is used to not extending his contract before moving on to his next club on a Bosman, went down memory lane and recalled his experience when he came back to the Emirates stadium with AC Milan in 2010 for the Emirates Cup Competition which ended in all 1-1 draw.

“It was the first time I came back to the Emirates so there were a lot of emotions,”

I was a bit nervous because I was playing in front of the fans for the first time since I left.

“But I was happy to see everyone at the stadium and that nothing had changed. It was a great experience.”
