Arsenal Star High On Confidence Ahead Of Manchester City Clash & New Season.

This weekend, Arsenal kick start their 2014/205 season with the Community shield match between league champions Manchester City. And one man who impressed for the Gunners last season is yet again eager to return to the same turf where he fired Arsenal to glory back in May.

Last season’s Arsenal player of the year  – Aaron Ramsey has revealed that he is determined to maintain the form he showed last season and help the Gunners win more trophies.

The Wales midfielder scored 16 goals for the Gunners last term despite spending four months on the sidelines, grabbing the winner in the FA Cup final at Wembley is also eager to fire his side to success this new season.

Ramsey and his Arsenal team-mates return to the scene of that triumph on Sunday to contest the Community Shield against Manchester City, and the 23-year-old is relishing the opportunity to go head-to-head with Yaya Toure – whose statistics he matched last season.

“There is always pressure on us to go out and perform,” said Ramsey. “I can still improve defensively and obviously I want to improve on the goals that I scored last season. I feel there is still a lot more to come.

“It was definitely a great feeling winning [the FA Cup] and we want that feeling again as quickly as possible. We want to try and win things this year and we believe we have a great opportunity of doing that.

“We always felt we were heading in the right direction. We had a lot of changes over the years with big players leaving for other clubs but we are a settled team, one where everyone gets on with each other and enjoys each other’s company, and I think you can see that on the pitch.

“He [Yaya Toure] had a full season last year and I missed [four] months but I think from the games I played [the stats] were fairly similar. The season he had was unbelievable so I just want to continue improving and hopefully I can take that into this season.”
