Following the Gunners 3-0 thrashing of premier league champions Manchester City over the weekend, Arsenal star believes the Gunners will build on from last season FA cup trophy breakthrough to push for major silverware this new season.
Arsenal midfielder Tomas Rosicky is confident that Arsenal will build on last season’s FA Cup success and go on to challenge for the Premier League title again.
Arsenal midfielder Tomáš Rosický is confident that Arsenal can go one step further than last season and win the Premier League title in the 2014/15 season.
The Gunners led the way for most of the season, but finished seven points behind eventual winners Manchester City. Rosický believes that the FA Cup win, his first trophy with the Gunners after eight seasons with the club, will give Arsenal a huge boost ahead of the new season:
“Last season we were at the top for a big period of time.” He said.
“We didn’t make it to the end. We had troubles at the end. We showed last season we are there and now we have some great new players. I think we will be up there at least. It’s our goal to win it”
Rosický also talked about his eight years at the club so far, and why he decided to stay on despite a lack of silverware:
“Arsenal for me is a massive name in the whole world.
“Even when there were rough periods the Arsenal name was up there with everyone. The road was bumpy for whatever reason but you can see now the club is stabilised.”
“It doesn’t have to look to someone from whatever country who owns them. It’s a very clean club. It can compete from its own resources with everyone else.”
“I have been here since 2006. This is my ninth year. I always had everything that I wanted here. Even in the difficult times.”
“It is a big club with big ambition and for me it was always worth fighting for it. That’s why I have been here so long. Was I happy that we didn’t win for so long? Of course I wasn’t. I just wanted to stick around and fight for it. This is a club that is worth fighting for.”
Arsenal get their Premier League campaign up and running against Crystal Palace at the Emirates stadium on August 16th, and will be going into the match in high spirit following their 3-0 thrashing of City over the weekend to clinch their first trophy of the season.
