Why Arsenal Should Halt Plans To Splash Out £40M To Sign Highly Rated Star.

Arsenal although have been given the green light to sign this highly rated star. But the said deal is subject to a very outrageous price tag placed on the players head.

The Gunners have been given the all-clear signal to sign Shakhtar Donetsk’s attacking midfielder Douglas Costa after  manager, Mircea Lucescu admitted they won’t stand in the way of the Brazilian leaving the club.

Arsenal has been quoted £40 million by Shaktar Donetsk for their star attacking midfielder. The Gunners are known to be big admirers of Costa, having twice made offers for him in the past, and recent reports suggest a season-long loan deal is being eyed up.

Costa is thought to be unhappy in Ukraine and is concerned for his safety due to the conflicts going on with Russia. During pre-season, he camped out in France and refused to come back but has since returned to the club, but is still understood to want out.

Costa showed his ability and the potential he holds with his performances in the Champions League last season, and Wenger knows he would be a strong addition to his squad.

“I am sure that things will come to the fore in the next few weeks,” said manager Mircea Lucescu.

“For me, all the players are transferable for the right price. Every year, some players go and some players arrive,” he continued.

“It’s normal that players will want to leave at some point,” said Mircea Lucescu.

Douglas Costa was signed to Shakhtar Donetsk in 2010, and since then he played a total of 121 games for the club scoring 25 goals. During last year’s League in Ukraine Premier league he helped Shakhtar win the 2014 United Super cup, a tournament between the top two placed clubs from Russia and Ukraine.

Though Douglas Costa is a relatively good attacking midfielder in his own rights, but he can’t be worth the amount tagged to him.

Aside from the obvious reason of too much money tagged to the player, Arsenal is blessed with talented midfielders that can feature prominently than Douglas Costa.

Santi Cazorla for instance has appeared in the colours of Arsenal only 97 times, since he was signed in the summer of 2012, and has scored 20 goals.

Mezut Ozil had 40 appearances last season with 7 goals but with a very high number of assist. Leaving out Outstanding players like Aaron Ramsey, Lukaz Podolski and Theo Walcott who all had an amazing season with Arsenal last year.

Douglas Costa will be a wonderful option in the middle of the pack for Arsenal, but the price tag is a little out of proportion.

Since Douglas Costa isn’t happy in Ukraine, and he is very concerned about his safety due to the fights going on in Ukraine, Shakhtar Donetsk may just accept the loan deal Arsene Wenger is coming to the table with.
