AFC Transfer Update: Radamel Falcao To Arsenal, Wenger Saving His Best For Last.

The exploits of Arsenal’s Manager Arsene Wenger since the beginning of August during this year’s summer transfer window has been slow or even non-existent. But if feelers we are hearing are anything to go by, then it will appear that the veteran coach is very serious about winning trophies this season. And it will appear that he is saving the best for the last.

Arsenal’s latest transfer news is either going to be greeted with barely contained enthusiasm or treated as the stuff of dreams. That will all depend on how much stock you put in reports linking the Gunners with moves for Radamel Falcao.

Also names like Matt Hummels of Borussia Dortmund as mentioned as well as Edison Cavani of PSG. Those are the names currently doing the rounds. It seems that manager Arsene Wenger’s willingness to spend big this summer has several reporters believing once he’s started he won’t be able to stop

Reports in France suggest Wenger is ready to finally get serious about recruiting a marquee striker. He has apparently made disgruntled pair Edinson Cavani and Radamel Falcao his top targets

“L’Equipea” a French newspaper reported on Sunday that Arsenal are interested in bringing Edinson Cavani or Radamel Falcao to England. Radamel Falcao is more heavily linked with Real Madrid but the prospect of a Premier League transfer cannot be ruled out especially with Madrid already relishing their start studded squad line-up.

Let’s start with the obvious implication first. Radamel Falcao represents a significant upgrade on current Arsenal centre-forward Olivier Giroud.

The ex-Montpellier man’s link-play is certainly good. However, his movement is often ponderous, and he lacks confidence and guile in front of goal.

Those latter qualities are certainly not missing in Falcao. The veteran Colombia sensation is a deadly natural predator.

Falcao comes alive whenever he gets the ball in and around the box. He can poach his goals as well as craft them via clever skill.

However, there are several caveats to this rumour. First, the player is only recently returned from a major ACL injury. Yet that might not be such a problem.

Wenger has got a firsthand glimpse of the player’s recovery progress during Arsenal’s recent 1-0 defeat to AS Monaco in the Emirates Cup. Falcao scored the game’s only goal and certainly looked sharp

Arsenal is reportedly talking to the player in private, about a possible move to the London Club. And it seems they are trying to get a deal for the sale of Lukas Podolski to fund the loan move of the Columbian International.

However, these are mere speculations because the Columbian weekly wage is £200,000.00. and Arsene Wenger is not known to be that extravagant.

It would be exciting to see how this turn of event would play-out in the coming days before the closure of the summer transfer window.
