Arsenal over the weekend took on Everton at the Goodison Park in a match which saw the Gunners squeeze out a 2-2 draw with less than 10 minutes to the end of regular time.
The match also saw the return of Mesut Ozil and Per Mertesacker to the Arsenal starting line-up as Wenger seek to give them playing time ahead of the all important second leg Champions League play-off home clash on Wednesday against Besiktas after a rather disappointing draw in Turkey last Tuesday.
Arsenal star – Jack Wilshere says Arsenal will go into Wednesday’s game against Besiktas in great spirits after their 2-2 draw at Everton.
The Gunners came back from two goals down at Goodison Park on Saturday to snatch a late draw after late goals from Aaron Ramsey and Olivier Giroud.
Next up is the second leg of their Champions League play-off against the Turkish side, and Wilshere is optimistic they will gain the win they need.
“It is easy for me to say that we have great character but if we put in performances like that week in, week out we can prove it to people,” he said.
“We have got great character, great togetherness and some leaders out there that keep us going. We also have great players to go with that.
“We never give up and at this level that is massive. We have always shown over the years that Arsenal are going to battle like mad right until the end.
“There have been a few games where we have been behind right until the end but have kept going.
“This is a fantastic point and now we have a big game on Wednesday and this will give us great confidence going into that.”
The match against Besiktas will record a 17th successive Champions League slot – should we come out victorious at the Emirates on Wednesday. However it is expected that we will have to “pack-a-punch” to beat the organised Turkish side when they travel down to North London. As a win-win situation is the only option.
