Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is set to once again anger Arsene Wenger and Arsenal fans with latest report of his interest in signing Southampton star and vital Arsenal target Morgan Schneiderlin.
Chelsea, according to the Express are reportedly set to offload John Obi Mikel in the summer to facilitate this deal. A move which will see the Nigerian International exit the Stamford Bridge as part of the deal to secure the signing of Schneiderlin who will head the other way.
Arsenal’s interest in the Saint’s midfield enforcer is no secret and reports of attempts by the Gunners to land the Frenchman over the last two transfer windows have been well documented.
This report, coming just days before the Gunners host the Blues, is sure to anger Arsenal faithfuls who have been clamouring for Schneiderlin’s signature.
Although, the Sun per the Express claim that Arsenal are in pole position to land the 25 year-old in the summer. However, another worrying factor worthy of note is suggestions by many of the swap-deal for Mikel being highly beneficial to Ronald Koeman and the Saints board in many ways.
Mikel has a wealth of Premier League experience as he has been with Chelsea for 9years with 329 appearances despite being only 27 years old.
He would also come as a direct replacement for outgoing Schneiderlin whilst also freeing-up significant funds to be spent elsewhere in the squad.
