Arsenal have moved closer to the signing of long time target according to reports.
The Gunners have reportedly lodged a shock £28.5million bid for Sporting Lisbon midfielder William Carvalho.
This report is according to the Sun who claim Arsene Wenger, having been impressed with the 23-year-old’s dominant performance against England in the U21 European Championships, has prompted the boss to up his offer to £28.5million, which could rise to as much as £37million with add-ons.
Arsenal where previously reported to have tabled a bid of around £22million for the Portuguese International; however, Wenger now seem to be convinced the midfield power house is the man he needs, hence a revised bid tabled
Carvalho has been on Arsenal’s radar the last two seasons after a string of impressive performances, but several attempts from the Gunners to sign the midfielder where cut short, despite the player admitting that joining Arsenal would be a dream move.
