After the £11m signing of Petr Cech to shore up the back line, Arsenal have been expected to add a defensive midfield signing to the squad this summer.
But with targets Geoffrey Kondogbia and Morgan Schneiderlin moving to Inter Milan and Manchester United respectively, concerns are starting to come up in some quarters.
Wenger however isn’t bothered as they aren’t his main targets, he is looking at Juventus Midfielder Arturo Vidal and Bayer Leverkusen’s Lars Bender instead, and with his latest habit of springing top class signings “only signings that can improve the team” as he would say, it won’t be much of a surprise.
According to Daily star reporting that Arsenal didn’t see Morgan Schneiderlin as value for money following the emergence of Francis Coquelin.
Lars Bender has been a long term target for Arsenal, the Germany international who can also play at Right Back is seen as an improvement of Francis Coquelin and would cost around 22m.
Arturo Vidal has been given permission by Juventus to leave for the right price according to the Metro Vidal who is rated at 32m is a proven world class midfielder who is part of the Chilean team that recently won the Copa America and he would be keen to join up with his compatriot Alexis Sanchez (who scored the winning penalty kick to hand them the Copa America for the first time in 99 years) at Arsenal.
Addition of these two midfielders would mean a total overhaul at the base of Arsenal’s midfield and hence the need to sell with Flamini looking to be axed first and Mikel Arteta set to get even much lesser game time.
