Arsenal are on the lookout for top quality players ahead of next season.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is planning a major title push next season and the boss is aware of the need to bring in only the best in the summer to achieve his target.
Wenger himself confirmed he would sign only “top players” in the summer, and this has seen the club linked to an avalanche of star players in recent weeks.
Arsenal are reportedly set to complete the transfer of one of Barcelona’s talented midfielders.
20-year-old Sergi Samper is reportedly close to a move to Arsenal, according to reports in Spain.
Popular Spanish media outlet Mundo Deportivo per The Daily Mail, claim the Gunners have returned to the Nou Camp this summer, but not for Pedro this time, instead for youngster Sergi Samper.
The report claim Arsenal are keen on landing the sensational central midfielder, and are even prepared to meet Barcelona’s £8.4million buyout clause to get their man.
Samper on the other hand is also said to be keen on the switch, and should a deal materialise in the coming weeks, he would join the likes of Cesc Fabregas, Hector Bellerin and Jon Toral who left Barca’s prestigious La Masia academy for the Emirates Stadium.
However, the report also says that the Catalan giants would prefer a loan deal rather than an outright buyout, though Samper is said to be seriously considering Arsenal’s offer, having grown frustrated playing for Barcelona’s B team.
