Arsenal are on the lookout for world class stars this summer, but will also be looking to lose a few players as well, to free up space and funds going into the transfer window.
Arsenal have officially confirmed the transfer of Wojciech Szczesny to Serie A giants AS Roma.
The transfer was announced officially on the club’s website today, though Szczesny had already revealed the deal via his official account on popular social media outlet Instagram.
The 25-year-old will now spend the 2015/2016 season on loan in Italy, as he looks to gain more playing time to enable him get back to top level after series of shambolic performances last season saw him lose his starting place to David Ospina.
And with the arrival of Petr Cech from Chelsea this summer, Szczesny’s place at the Emirates Stadium was put even further below the pecking order, with Cech expected to come in as Arsenal’s number one man between the sticks and Ospina publicly revealing his intention to stay and fight back his position from the 33-year-old veteran.
The 2013/2014 Golden Glove award winner came through the junior ranks at Arsenal and has made 181 appearances for Arsene Wenger’s side since making his senior debut in 2009.
