Aston Villa have joined the race to sign Arsenal defender Matthieu Debuchy, according to the Daily Star.
The defender is reportedly interested in a move away from the Emirates after finding himself outside the first xi.
A number of clubs within and outside England are interested in the defender after he reportedly told Wenger he’d be interested in a switch this January transfer window, as per the daily star.
The defender also spoke L’Equipe saying:
“I’ll look at the offers to move. I love England and the football here, but why not return to France.
The Daily star now claims Remi Garde’s side will go “head to head” with West Brom in the race to sign the 30 years old defender.
The report cliams Garde is hoping to use his personal relationship with Wenger to lure the player to Villa Park.
Roma and Lyon are also monitoring the defender’s situation at the Emirates.
West Brom leads the race to sign the fullback.
Villa currently sit bottom of the premier league log table and are in dire need of reinforcements and Garde has earmarked Debuchy as a potential target.
