AS Roma are interested in extending the stay of on loan Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny beyond the end of the current season.
The Polish International, who has been very impressive in the capital, was loaned to the Italian side for the current campaign and has already made twenty appearances in all competitions helping them into the next round of the Champions League.
Roma coach Rudi Gracia is said to be very impressed by the young goalkeeper who only turns 26 later in the current campaign.
Sky Italia reports that Walter Sabbatini, the sporting director at Roma, is seeking to open talks with Arsenal about the possibility of an extension.
It is believed that the Italian side would prefer a permanent deal over a loan extension should they qualify again for next season’s champions league.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is of the believe that Szczesny still has a future at the Emirates and as such would only entertain the idea of a further year on loan as first choice custodian Petr Cech turns 34 before the end of the season.
Wenger’s ideal scenario much like last summer is thought to be keeping Szczesny at the club while he gains valuable experience from Cech but the Pole’s demand for regular football and refusal to be second choice only points at an extension with Roma.
