Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is planning a major title push this season and the boss is aware of the need to bring in only the best to achieve his target.
Arsenal are keeping an eye on the situation of Atletico Madrid striker Jackson Martinez.
The forward who is highly regarded as a prolific striker having managed a total of 67 goals in 89 league appearances during his three seasons with Portuguese side FC Porto has thus far struggled for goals since his £26million summer move to the Vincete Calderón.
The forward has netted just twice in his eleven appearances in la Liga despite Atletico being in fine form sitting top of the league having played a game more than champions Barcelona.
Atletico manager Diego Simeone has pleaded for patience for the Colombian international and says he is of the belief that the player has the required talent.
Simeone said: “I am happy with him [Martinez], [he] has the same amount of goals as [Luciano] Vietto, [Angel] Correa and [Fernando] Torres having played less.
“We are happy, you must be patient, as with Vietto, Torres [and] Correa.” They say many things about it, but we must have patience and I repeat: I am very happy with his work.’
The metro via Le10 sport however reports that the Gunners are keeping tabs on the unsettled striker ahead of making a possible move.
