Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is planning a major title push this season and the boss is aware of the need to bring in only the best to achieve his target.
Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Spanish left back, Nacho Monreal is close to signing a new contract with Arsenal, according to reports. The 29-year-old has a deal that runs till 2017 but has agreed to commit to a new three year deal.
Monreal has established himself as the first choice left back for the Gunners after initially struggling to adapt to the pace of the premiership when he newly arrived. But he has now confined England left back Kieran GIbbs to the bench this season and he is now fully adapted to the physical demands in the English game.
Monreal joined the Gunners from Spanish side Malaga in 2013 and has gone on to make over 110 appearances for the Arsene Winger tutored side.
He was previously linked with a move to Atletico Bilbao in the summer transfer window but with this new deal that he is set to sign; it is clear that Monreal would stay at the Emirates for the foreseeable future.
Monreal initially struggled to adapt to the pace and physicality of the English Premier League in his first season but has now integrated himself as one of the finest left backs in the league; with his constant link up play up front for the Gunners causing opposition defence trouble. The news of his new deal would be a delight to the Arsenal fans.
