Arsenal conceded late to leave Anfield with just a point, after playing 3-3 draw in a game that’s arguably the game of the season so far.
We look at how each Arsenal player performed on a breathtaking entertaining night at Anfield.
Petr Cech: 6.5
Made a number of good saves, most notably the one which was rebounded by Firmino for the opening goal, couldn’t do much for the first two goals, but could have done better for the third.
Hector Bellerin: 6.5
Was excellent once again in attack, but was unusually poor in defensive positioning, he gave Moreno too much freedom on the right side.
On a night where the gunners conceded three times, the big german could not be faulted, made vital clearances, most notably the one against Lallana.
Laurent Koscielny: 6.5
Was a composed and mobile presence at the back. He helped out Monreal a couple of times, and didn’t let anything get behind him.
Nacho Monreal: 7.0
An excellent performance from the left back, despite being overloaded, with Ibe, Clyne and occasionally Firmino, he robbed them of the ball more times than not, didn’t take too much risk going forward, but none the less, supported the attack as much as he could.
Ramsey: 8.0 (MOTM)
A goal, an assist and a goal bound effort hooked off the line, sums up his game. The Welshman was the star of Arsenal’s midfield, equalized with an effort that beat Mignolet at his near post, delivered a corner that Giroud flicked into the back of the net, the raised the ball over Mignolet only to see it cleared off the line.
Was a mobile marshalling presence in the midfield, he couldn’t cope with the pace and movement of Liverpool’s midfield, but maintained a level of control over his midfield partners defensive input, could be seen pointing out a defensive error to Ramsey after the Welshman’s goal.
Unusually bad game from the german. Seemed to be lacking fitness, for someone who just had a whole week’s rest, started getting into the game when Liverpool’s tempo slowed in the second half, but by then fatigue had come into play, was brought off for Gibbs.
Complete performance from the engine of a player, the player was everywhere clearing danger, and was excellent in attack, laying an exquisite throughball in between the Liverpool defence for Ramsey’s goal, then laid another for a Walcott cross that Giroud failed to convert, before grabbing a second assist for Giroud’s second goal.
Theo Walcott: 6.5
The forward was a thorn in the flesh of Liverpool, with quick movements. He made a cross across goal off a Campbell’s pass, only for Giroud to waste it. Tested Mignolet a couple of times.
Olivier Giroud: 7.0
Had a very slow start which was the more frustrating when he practically cleared a Walcott cross for Liverpool instead of converting it. But he turned that around to produce one of his best performances this season, his hold up play was excellent, and his two goals, one from Ramsey’s corner, and the next a wonderful turn and shot in the box, which would be up there for goal of the month.
Keiran Gibbs: 6-0
Came on for Ozil to shore up the left side, and did a decent job.
Came on for Joel Campbell and didn’t add much to the game
Came on late for Walcott, and did nothing to stop a third goal.
