Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has revealed that his French scouting network missed out on Leicester’s Riyad Mahrez prior to his move to England, according to tribalfootball.

The Foxes playmaker has been superb this season and his performances along with that of teammate Jamie Vardy is currently helping the foxes occupy the first position on the log table.

The winger is currently behind Ozil on the assist log table with 10 assists to his name and has also scored 14 goals. A stat which is so impressive for a midfielder and Wenger has admitted he didn’t know about the defender before he moved to Leicester City.

“I didn’t know him honestly, he played in the second division in France,” Wenger said.

“He has developed extremely well; today he is one of the dominant players in the Premier League.

“It is important to know that with quality work, quality scouting and quality management you can have great results.”

The Gunners are now being linked with a move to sign the Algerian midfielder, his performances this term for Leicester would have attracted the interest of Wenger and other manager’s of big clubs and should the midfielder indicate an interest although very unlikely to leave Leicester this summer. Wenger as well as a host of many top managers will be lining up to lure the 24 year old to their club.
