Arsenal are interested in bringing back Borussia Mochengladbach midfielder Harvard Nordveit to the club this summer, according to reports.

Wenger’s search for a defensive midfielder has led him to one of his former players who he allowed to leave for a fee of about £800,000 in 2010.

According to German Newspaper Bild via the Daily Mail, Arsenal have begun talks with the midfielder’s representative as they attempt to lure him back to the club.

According to the Star, Wenger was unwilling to allow the midfielder leave in 2010 but was forced to let him move to Germany because he felt the player deserved first team football which the Gunners could not offer him at that time. And with the player’s contract set to expire at the end of the season, Arsenal are looking to reach a pre contract agreement with the midfielder which will see him return to the club on a free transfer.

With Wenger reportedly preparing for the exit of Mikel Arteta, Mathieu Flamini and Thomas Rosicky, the French tactician is reportedly interested in signing a midfielder ahead of next season. Although, it is thought that Southampton’s Wanyama is Wenger’s first choice but Nordveit availability on a free makes him more value for money.

Monchengladbach are still trying to convince the player to sign a new contract at the club but interest from the Premier League would definitely be attractive to the player.

Tottenham and Liverpool are also interested in the midfielder.
