Arsene Wenger has denied rumours linking PSG striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic with a move to the club this summer, via the Daily Mirror.
Rumours linking Ibrahimovic with a move to Arsenal have been strong in recent weeks but Wenger has moved out to calm those reports claiming the club isn’t thinking of Ibrahimovic at the moment.
It is believed that Ibrahimovic is interested in a move to Arsenal and his agents have offered Arsenal the chance to sign him but Wenger is prepared to take his time before deciding whether to move for the PSG man or not.
Gunners boss Wenger said: “Look, at the moment, no. We are not on that case. We have other worries at the moment.
It’s short-term. We are not on Zlatan’s case. But even at 34, he’s had a great season at PSG.
“Look, at the moment you can understand my priority ahead of Everton is not the transfer market on signings next season. I’m just surprised by the name you’ve thrown at me.
We’re not thinking of signing anybody at the moment.”
Manchester United and Chelsea are also interested in the Sweden international and Arsenal could regret delaying as other teams could take advantage of Wenger’s indecisiveness. However, the player’s preference for a move to London could play into the hands of Wenger.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic was close to a move to Arsenal when he was 16 and could now complete the move 18 years later.
