Arsenal youngster Chuba Akpom is hoping to break into the Gunners first team next season.
The 20-year-old is currently on loan at Hull City and has failed to impress with the Championship side, scoring three league goals so far.
However, he is not expecting his Tiger’s loan spell to affect his chances at Arsenal, the striker revealed his aim is to make it at Arsenal and he is hoping to follow the path of Alex Iwobi to make an impression in the first team next term.
Akpom said: “Arsenal’s a good club and I’ve always wanted to play for the first team there so I’m looking forward to going back at the end of the season, as quoted by the Daily Express.
“This summer I’m just going to work as hard as I can and in pre-season do the best that I can.”
“It’s always good to see young British talent shining in the Premier League,” he added.
The striker has seen Alex Iwobi grow from strength to strength in the first team and he is hoping his case won’t be different next season.
“Alex, I grew up with him. He’s like a brother to me so I’m buzzing for him, I’m buzzing for his progress and I’m just telling him that hopefully next season it’s me and him playing together.”
Akpom joined Arsenal at the age of six and has been a regular feature for the club’s academy over the years.
