Arsenal are currently losing out in the race to sign AS Roma forward Umar Sadiq, according to Sport Witness.
The club was rumoured to have tabled an official bid last month and according to La Spezia’s edition of Il Secolo XIX via Sport Witness, Borussia Dortmund are set to beat Arsenal to the striker’s signature.
The German club have submitted a bid of €16m for the striker to be paid twice while Arsenal’s bid is €1m short of Dortmund’s and Wenger intends to pay the €15m in three installments.
Roma is yet to sign the player on a permanent basis as the striker joined the Italian side on a year loan last summer but Roma are expected to activate their option to buy the striker permanently for €2.5m. The Italian club will then try to drive the price as high as possible should they decide to sell at the end of the season.
Sadiq is one of the numerous Nigerians being linked with a move to the Emirates. The striker is highly rated in his homeland and it seems Wenger is determined to snap up all the country’s best talents to the Emirates. The club recently signed Kelechi Nwakali and are also working on a deal to sign Samuel Chibueze both of whom are also Nigerians.
Sadiq has scored 2 serie A goals for Roma this season in 6 appearances.
