Turkish Giants Fenerbahce are reportedly interested in signing Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil this summer.
The midfielder has been consistently linked with a move away from Arsenal despite insisting on several occasions that he is happy at the Emirates.
Ozil has been linked with a return to the La Liga with Barcelona reportedly keen on his services and if recent reports are to be believed, the Spanish giants could now face competiton from Turkey.
According to Turkish publication Hurriyet via the Daily Express, Fenerbahce is interested in signing Mesut Ozil and the Turkish giants have already held preliminary talks with Ozil’s camp.
Ozil whose descendants are from Turkey has previously declared his love for Fenerbahce and claimed he will love to wear the club’s Jersey someday.
He said: “In the future I want to wear a Fenerbahce shirt. It would be an honour. Everyone knows I am a Fenerbahce fan.”
Despite his love for the Turkish club, it is very unlikely that Ozil wants to leave North London or that Wenger would sanction his sale this summer. The German is an integral part of the Gunner’s team, he is currently the creative hub of the team, assisting his mates on 18 occasions in the League alone this season.
Arsenal are keen on strengthening the squad ahead of next season and have made signing Ozil to a new contract the top priority this summer which eventually rules out a sale to Fenerbahce or any other interested club.
