Arsenal are close to signing Nigeria U17 youngster Samuel Chukwueze after the breakthrough in talks with the player’s academy.
Wenger has been linked with a move to sign the forward since January along with Kelechi Nwakali who has reportedly completed a move to the Emirates. It was reported in February that the deal to bring Chukwueze to the Emirates is on a brink of collapse due to a dispute between Arsenal and the player’s academy over the transfer fee, according to AllAfricanfootball.
It is claimed that the player’s club Diamond academy wanted a percentage of the fee to be paid now while Arsenal would prefer to wait until the player is 18.
Both clubs have now found a breakthrough as a source close to the player has revealed both clubs are close to an agreement, according to AllAfricanfootball, via Daily Star.
“There was a little bit of hitch, at the end of the day it was resolved if and only if Diamond Academy agree,” they said.
“Arsenal wants to pay Chukwueze’s transfer fee when he is 18, Diamond felt it was too far for them. But they should agree.”
Red Bull Salzburg and Bundesliga clubs have also declared their interest in the forward but the Nigeria youngster is keen on joining his U17 teammate Nwakali at the Emirates.
