The Gunners are well aware that the Inter Milan forward Icardi will be available on the market and are putting together an offer for him.
The 22-year-old who has been dubbed for big things in his football career has largely been outshone by strike partner Stefan Jovetic this season having been at odds with Roberto Mancini style of play.
According to reports, the Argentine would cost the Gunners £20 million, little wonder the cash-strapped Italian giants are looking to sell.
The Gunner’s are reportedly interested in signing a striker next summer and have been linked with a number of top strikers across Europe.
Icardi is in the Gunners wish list as Arsenal hope to secure a deal; he is contracted to the San Siro giants till 2019
The Argentine international has struck 14 goals for Inter this season, has broken his silence on where he wants to be lining-up in August.
Icardi said: “It’s the same story every year. Every year I read that I am leaving Inter.
“But I am happy here. I enjoy being Inter captain, being the club’s striker and to score goals here.”
Speaking to Corriere della Sera, Icardi added: “Of course, I want to win trophies, but I want to do it here at Inter, like so many did before me.
“Next year we will be gunning for the Serie A title and to qualify for the Champions League.”
