PISSED: North London Rivals Set To Break Record Because Of Wenger’s Defensive Woes

Goonersden brings you news from top football news sites from the likes of ESPN, SkySport, Daily Mail, Daily Star and Metro… We also Analyse football, player, transfer and predict Arsenal starting line-up.

Former Arsenal striker Ian Wright believes there could be a power shift in North London after a wonderful campaign that has been filled with lot of surprises.

Spurs are on course to finish top of the Gunners for the first time in Wenger’s 20 years at the Emirates as the Lilywhites currently sit second on the log table six points ahead of our dear Arsenal in third place, although we have played a game less.

With Mauricio Pochettino on the verge of breaking the record which Wenger has over Tottenham, Wright believes this could just mark the beginning of a new era in North London.

“It’s hard for me to say it but with Spurs playing with intensity, quality and determination, the power shift is certainly around there,” Wright told the Sun, as quoted by Standard Sports.

“But with young players like [Alex] Iwobi, [Danny] Welbeck,[Hector] Bellerin and [Francis] Coquelin, Arsenal have something to build on.

“Arsenal have stood still, while there’s been a mentality change for Tottenham.

“Mauricio Pochettino has slowly got his team playing at a tempo which teams are finding hard to deal with. When you sprinkle that with quality from the likes of Kane, Alli, Alderweireld and Lloris, then the spine is so strong.

“Any Arsenal fan who says they are not worried about Spurs right now is being a bit closed off.”

Should Tottenham finish above Arsenal on the league table this season, the Gooners will be hoping Wenger strengthens the squad ahead of next season as no one would want the bragging rights to shift from the Emirates to White Hart Lane.
