Premier League rivals Tottenham and Liverpool have joined Arsenal in the race to sign Roma striker Umar Sadiq, according to reports.
Arsenal were rumoured to have tabled an official bid last month which was swiftly rejected by the Italian club.
According to Italian Publication Le Gazzetta Dello Sport via the Metro, the Premier League duo and French giants Lyon have now joined Arsenal in the race to sign the Nigerian striker.
The striker is being dubbed the next Kanu Nwankwo and is expected to cost any potential buyer as much as £15m.
As Roma wants to sign the player on a permanent basis as the striker joined the Italian side on a year loan last summer from Serie B side Spezia.
Roma are expected to activate their option to buy the striker permanently for €2.5m. The Italian club will then try to drive the price as high as possible should they decide to sell at the end of the season.
The striker is highly rated in his homeland and it seems Wenger is determined to snap up the forward. However, the presence of Liverpool and Tottenham would make it difficult.
Sadiq has scored two goals in six Serie A games for AS Roma senior team and has also been dangerous for the club’s youth team scoring 19 goals in 18 games for the junior side.
