Arsenal have joined Manchester United in the race to sign Borussia Dortmund defender Matt Hummels, according to reports.
Arsene Wenger is looking to bring in a quality defender to the club this summer and Hummels appears to be high on the French man’s wish list.
The club has been linked with a move for AS Roma’s Kostas Manolas but the Italian club are in a strong position to hold on to their Greek defender as he still has three years in his contract.
Unlike Manolas, Hummels has just a year left in his BVB contract and is yet to decide if he should sign a new contract with the German club or embrace a new challenge by moving to the Premier League, according to Bild via Goonertalk.
The report further claimed Wenger will be looking to tempt the defender to the Emirates should he decide to move to the Premier League and will submit an official bid for the German international’s services this summer.
Manchester United are also linked with a move to sign the German defender who could be available for £20m.
Hummels have been with BVB since 2008 making over 240 league appearances for the German club.
