Arsenal under 18 manager Frans de kat will be leaving the club at the end of the season to take up a role with his national team, the manager has confirmed, via the Daily Star.
Kat is set to take up a role with the Netherlands as the new coordinator of their football training academy. The Dutchman moved to the Emirates in 2014 and is set to leave the club just 2 years later.
The Dutch FA confirmed the manager’s move on their website which read:
“De Kat would be responsible for the provision of training for trainers and coaches.”
Kat also confirmed the news claiming he enjoyed working at the Emirates this last two years but is looking forward to link up with his national team.
“It was great to coach a big club like Arsenal to work, but I’m also looking forward to get back to the KNVB to get started.”
Kat’s departure will create a vacuum in the U18’s coaching staffs which will now bw filled by former player Thierry Henry. It is believed that Henry wouldn’t step into Kat’s shoes directly but he will take over as the youth team’s new assistant manager.
