Arsenal are set to battle Manchester City and Liverpool in its attempts to sign Celtic fullback Kieran Terney this summer, according to reports.
Wenger is reportedly in search of a left back this summer as he prepares for the potential exit of Kieran Gibbs. Gibbs is said to be interested in a move away from the Emirates in search of regular football after losing his place in the Gunners first team to Nacho Monreal.
Wenger on his own part is prepared to allow Gibbs leave if he finds a replacement for the England international. In a bid to step up his attempts to sign a young full back to act as Nacho Monreal’s understudy, Wenger is prepared to submit an official bid for Celtic’s left back.
Tierney, 18, has been superb for Celtic this term and Wenger who has been watching the youngster for some time is now prepared to table a bid in the region of £5m, according to the Daily Star.
Manchester City and Liverpool are also keen on the 18-year-old but the report claims the strongest interest is coming from Wenger. The defender has three years left on his current deal at Celtic but it wouldn’t be a difficult task convincing the Scotland international to move to the Emirates.
Despite his young age, Tierney is a full Scotland international making his debut few months ago.
Tierney has been rewarded for his superb form this season as he recently won the PFA Scotland young player of the year award.
