Arsenal are on the verge of signing Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Granit Xhaka in a deal worth up to £65m, according to Football insider.
The midfielder has been a constant feature in the Gunner’s rumour mill since January but it seems the club is close to getting their man should recent reports be true.
According to football insider, Arsenal are prepared to pay as much as £34m for the midfielder and would offer him a salary package worth up to £120,000 a week in order to secure his services.
The report also added that a source close to the club confirmed talks are in an advanced stage with other reports adding that a deal to take the midfielder to the Emirates is all but agreed as Borussia Monchengladbach wants to sign a replacement before confirming the deal.
The midfielder has on several occasions talked up his desire to move to the Premier League and Borussia Monchengladbach director Marx Eberl recently admitted that they will fight to keep the midfielder but won’t stop him from actualizing his dream to the Premier League.
“We will fight for Granit,” Eberl said.
“There are clubs that can offer an even bigger chance of playing Champions League and competing for titles and trophies.”
Xhaka is regarded as one of the best midfielders in the Bundesliga and will definitely be a solid addition should he complete a move to the Emirates.
