Arsenal are weighing up the possibility of signing Liverpool forward Daniel Sturridge, according to reports.
The Gunners have been linked with a number of top strikers across Europe as Wenger looks to bolster his attacking options ahead of next season and it seems the Frenchman has added the Liverpool marksman to his list of potential targets.
The 26-year-old is regarded as one of the best strikers in England when fit but the problem remains his injury record which has been very poor throughout his career.
According to the Mirror, Wenger would look to snap up the striker should the opportunity arise. It was reported that the striker has a rift with his manager Jurgen Klopp after the Red’s boss left him out of the starting xi in the two-legged clash against Borussia Dortmund last month. Although the England international admitted there was no problem between himself and his manager, he admitted he wants to play and enjoys playing football.
Sturridge recently said: “I am someone who wants to play every minute of every match so maybe when I’m not starting, it’s hard to take.”
According to the report, Liverpool are not thinking of selling the forward this summer but should Klopp decide to strengthen his strikeforce, Sturridge could be forced to leave in search of regular football. The Merseyside club values the striker in the region of £30m but potential suitors including Arsenal will be looking to negotiate a reduced fee due to the striker’s injury records.
Sturridge has scored 48 goals in 63 appearances for Liverpool since joining the club in 2013.
