Arsenal are monitoring the situation of Real Madrid winger Lucas Vazquez ahead of a possible summer move, according to reports in the Spanish media.

Wenger is interested in signing a winger this summer as he prepares for the departure of Theo Walcott. The French man has reportedly made Leicester City’s Riyad Mahrez his top target but the Foxes are determined to keep hold of their talisman and Wenger is already eyeing other options.

According to reports, Wenger is keeping a close watch on the Madrid midfielder who has been limited to 11 starts for Real Madrid this season.

Vazquez is highly rated in Spain but the midfielder has found it difficult to play first team football due to the quality of personnel on the wings at Real Madrid.

With Walcott reportedly likely to leave the Emirates this summer, it would definitely give Vazquez the chance to play first team football should Wenger decide to step up his interest in the Spanish forward.

Liverpool and Bayern Munich are reportedly also interested in the forward and Wenger would have to battle these clubs should he decide to sign Vazquez.

Real Madrid on their own part are not prepared to sell the winger but it is believed they could reconsider their stand should they receive a bumper offer for the 26-year-old.

Vazquez has been impressive for Real Madrid this season despite finding himself behind Rodriguez, Ronaldo and Bale in the Los Blancos pecking order.

Vazquez is a skillful winger with pace and an eye for goal and will definitely be an ideal replacement for Walcott.
