Chelsea are set to rival Arsenal in the race to sign Borussia Dortmund midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan, according to reports.
The Armenia midfielder has been heavily linked with a move to the Emirates but according to Transfer Market Web via the Daily Express, Chelsea are prepared to submit a mouth watering bid to sign the Armenia playmaker.
The report also claims the Blues tabled a bid of £46m for the midfielder last summer and would rival Arsenal for the midfielder this summer.
The midfielder who has been impressive for Thomas Tuchel’s men this season will have just a year left in his contract at the end of this season and he is reportedly stalling on signing a new contract at the German club.
Arsenal are also keen on the midfielder as Wenger fears he could lose Alexis Sanchez this summer. The report added that Wenger sees the Armenian international as a possible replacement for Sanchez.
However, Dortmund are not prepared to let go of their midfielder easily and will do their best to keep him. The midfielder is currently earning about £30,000 a week and the German club are prepared to give the midfielder a large pay rise in the new deal in order to convince him to stay.
