Arsenal are interested in signing Argentina and Napoli Striker Gonzalo Higuain this summer, according to reports.
Wenger has reportedly stepped up his search for a centre forward after Welbeck’s injury and according to London Evening Standard via Sport review, Arsenal are prepared to make a move for Higuain this summer as Wenger attempts to strengthen his depleted strikeforce.
Wenger has a clear target in mind of buying a striker and the French man has revealed he will only sign a top striker this summer.
The French man who was criticized for failing to sign a single outfield player last summer has revealed he will try to sign a striker this summer but insists the shortage of world class strikers in the market makes it difficult for him to strike a deal.
“When you buy you want to buy top strikers,” he said. “[You do it] by finding the right person. We have targets, and hopefully we can do that.”
Higuain is one of the best strikers in Europe in current form after another superb season with Napoli. However, the French man is set to face a strong competition in his attempts to sign Higuain as Chelsea are seriously interested in the 28 year old.
Higuain has scored 36 Serie A goals for Napoli this season making him one of the most prolific striker on the planet at the moment.
