Arsenal could sign one of its long-term target Karim Benzema this summer from Real Madrid should development favour them, according to reports.
The Gunners were linked with a move to sign the striker in the last two transfer windows and Wenger could now get the French international this summer.
Real Madrid are reportedly interested in signing Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski and the Poland striker could be open to a switch to the Bernabeu. Should this happen, Arsenal could be a beneficiary of the move. Wenger is a fan of Benzema and should Madrid sign a striker, he could be forced out of the Bernabeu.
Spanish publication AS via HITC sport claims Wenger would move swiftly to sign Benzema should Lewandowski agree on a switch to Madrid.
Wenger has revealed he is looking to sign a striker this summer and the chance to sign a top striker like Benzema would be too good for the French man to turn down.
Arsenal are also in talks with Madrid over the services of Alvaro Morata and the report claims a move for Benzema would not stop the club from signing Morata. It also added that Wenger could pair both players upfront next season but that seems unlikely as the French man would need to switch from his favoured one striker formation to a two striker formation.
