Manchester City have opened talks to sign Arsenal target Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang this summer, according to reports.
The Gunners were heavily linked with the striker during the course of the season but in the past few weeks, reports linking the Gabonese to the Emirates as cooled off. Wenger reportedly decided to focus on Alvaro Morata after Aubameyang ruled out the possibility of moving to the Premier League. But Wenger could be alerted by the news that a Premier league rival has opened talks with BVB over signing the striker.
According to France Football via Football Insider, Guardiola is seriously interested in Aubameyang and has ordered City officials to spend big to get the Gabonese international.
Aubameyang has been impressive for BVB in the last couple of years which led to him winning the African player of the year award in January. The striker scored 39 goals in 48 appearances this season and is currently one of the most prolific strikers in world football.
Aubameyang will definitely come in as an upgrade to Olivier Giroud should Wenger rival City for his signature but the chances we would get the striker now look very slim as Real Madrid and Barcelona are also interested in the 26 year old striker coupled with the possibility that Wenger has made Morata his priority target.
