Manchester United are preparing to hijack Arsenal’s move for Alvaro Morata, according to reports.

Arsenal have been seriously interested in a move to sign the Spanish striker with Wenger reportedly prepared to offer as much as £50m in transfer fees and £150,000 per week Salary to secure the services of the 23 year old.

However, Wenger would now face serious competition to sign the striker as Manchester United are preparing to hijack the player’s move.

According to the Daily Star via the Express, Jose Mourinho who is set to take over as manager of Man Utd has set his sights on Morata.

The Portuguese is planning for a major squad overhaul at Old Trafford and sees Morata as a crucial part of his plans.

Manchester United have been alerted by reports that the player’s agent is in talks with Real Madrid over a move back to the Bernabeu. It is expected that the Spanish giants will sell him for a higher fee immediately they complete his signing and Manchester United have now been asked to be kept informed about the player’s situation.

Mourinho is reportedly willing to work with the 23 year old at Old Trafford after giving the young man his debut when they were both at Real Madrid.

Morata is said to personally favour a move to the Emirates but that would not deter Mourinho who is keen to get one over his rival Wenger.

Morata scored 12 goals in all competitions for Juventus this season. Despite his goal tally not so impressive, the young man could be regarded as a big game player with one of his goals coming in Juventus 1-0 win over AC Milan in the Italian cup final while the 23 year old also netted against Bayern Munich in the Champions League this season not forgetting his strike against Real Madrid in last season’s Champions League Semi-final.
