Arsenal have made an improved bid for Bolton’s Centre-back Rob Holding, according to reports.
The Gunners are said to be seriously interested in signing Holding from Bolton as Wenger plans to lure some of the best British talents to the Emirates this summer.
Wenger had a £750,000 bid for the 20-year-old rejected by Bolton last week with the club insisting they are under no pressure to sell the defender following their relegation to league one. The club then informed Arsenal it would require at least £7m to price the defender away from Rebook Stadium. But Wenger reportedly believes the £7m is too high for a player with one year left in his contract and is untested in the Premier League.
However, Wenger still holds a concrete interest in the 20-year-old and according to the Sun via the Daily Star, the Gunners have made another bid worth £1.2m. The new offer will include additional bonus payments based on the defender’s appearances.
Holding is highly rated by the League One club as he was very impressive for them last season scooping the club’s player of the year award in the process.
Tottenham are also interested in the 20 year old but the North London rivals are well behind in the race to sign the defender.
