Arsenal are in talks with Italian giants AS Roma as regards extending the loan deal of Poland shot-stopper Wojciech Szczesny.
Szczesny spent the entire season on loan at the Italian club and the club are now looking to keep the 26-year-old goalkeeper for the second consecutive season.
Szczesny’s move to Roma was reportedly in doubt after the Italian club indicated their interest in signing the player on a permanent deal and was quoted a fee of £15m by Arsenal. This prompted Roma to seal a deal for Brazilian goalkeeper Allison.
Due to the signing of Allison, there have been conflicting reports about Szczesny future but the goalkeeper has always maintained his desire is to remain in Rome for another season. The goalkeeper’s superb relationship with Roma coach Luciano Spalletti has now forced the Italian side to discuss an extended loan deal for the Szczesny. And according to Football Insider, Arsenal are confident of reaching an agreement with Roma.
It is believed that Arsenal want Roma to pay majority of Szczesny £45,000 a week salary this time around.
The deal is expected to be confirmed as soon as possible and this will be an exciting news to the player who recently took a swipe at Arsene Wenger.
“Spalletti highlights the importance of having good feet when playingfootball,” Szczesny said. “One day we spent 45 minutes practicing just goal kicks.
“If I stay at Rome, I’ll continue to grow and if I return to Arsenal, I’ll treasure my experience in Italy, even though I’ve learned more in fourth months with Spalletti than I did in 10 years in England.”
