Bitter rivals Tottenham and Arsenal could go head to head in the race to sign Dutch youngster Riechedly Bazoer, according to reports.
Wenger is reportedly keen on strengthening his midfield this summer due to the departure of Thomas Rosicky and Mikel Arteta. It is believed that Mathieu Flamini will follow the above named pair out of the club and Wenger is keen to ensure he isn’t light at the middle of the pitch. Despite the signing of Granit Xhaka, the club is still being linked to a host of midfielders and the Dutch youngster Bazoer has been linked with a move to the Emirates.
According to Football Insider via the Daily Express, Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino personally watched the Arsenal linked midfielder in Netherland’s Friendly match against Ireland on Friday and the spurs boss was impressed.
The report claim Arsenal are seriously interested in the 19 year old midfielder after chief scout Steve Rowley watched the player during the course of the season and is very impressed with his performances for Ajax. The report also added that the Gunners are desperate to sign the midfielder but Tottenham will now join the race for the 19 year old.
Bazoer is highly rated in the Netherlands and is seen as a potential world beater and the player’s performances has always gone on to support those claims. At 19, he is already an important member of Ajax first team making 29 league appearances for the Dutch club this season.
