Arsenal defender Mathieu Debuchy would leave the club this summer, according to L’Equipe.
The French defender’s future at the Emirates is in doubt and reports in France now claim he is set to leave the club this summer. The defender spent the second half of last season at FC Bordeaux after falling behind Hector Bellerin in the club’s pecking order. He is now at the risk of falling further away from the first team picture next year due to the return of Carl Jenkison who has been on loan at West Ham for two years.
Debuchy has not hidden his desire to leave the Emirates, openly stating he wants to leave the club and publicly slamming Wenger. It is believed the defender has lost confidence in Wenger after the French tactician promised him a chance in the first team at the beginning of last season only for the boss to fail to deliver.
Speaking to Canal+ in January, Debuchy said:
“Yes, I’m a little bit annoyed with him. It’s his choice.”
“I came back well this summer, I had a good pre-season,” he added.
“I was able to talk to him to know my future at Arsenal. He said that I would have game time and that we would discuss it in December. Unfortunately, I didn’t have this game time.”
Debuchy joined the club in 2014 but failed to establish himself in the Gunners team due to injuries and poor form.
