Arsene Wenger has been urged to sign a powerful and world class defender like Chelsea’s John Terry by ex Arsenal man John Hartson.
The ex-gunner believe the club needs a couple of new signings regardless of whether we manage to get Vardy over to the Emirates.
Hartson who played under Wenger in the French man’s early years at the Emirates believe a centre defender with the footballing and leadership qualities of Chelsea captain Terry is a must this summer.
He also urged the club to sign another midfielder and a centre forward in order to successfully challenge for the league title next season.
“I think there is a lot more to come,” he told Talksport a quoted by Ibtimes. “He has been criticised for not winning the title in 12 years – rightly so because it is far too long to go without the Premier League.
“But he gets away with it because his Champions League record is remarkable and the money Arsene Wenger has brought into the club is phenomenal in terms of what they get now for getting through to the knockout stages of the Champions League.
“I think he will bring in another two – maybe another striker, another midfield player and a solid defender in the old-fashioned mould of John Terry. There is money there to spend and Arsenal will have a really, really big push I feel next season. The money is there and I think Arsene Wenger will go and spend it.”
Arsenal have already completed the signing of Granit Xhaka and are also waiting for a decision from Jamie Vardy over a potential move to the Emirates. To the delight of every faithful, the manager is actively working on other signings to improve the squad this summer.
