Arsenal target Kieran Tierney has snubbed a move to Arsenal in favour of a new contract at Celtic, via the Daily Mail.
The defender was heavily linked with a move to Arsenal with Wenger said to be keen on his services.
But the Scotland international has opted to stay at Celtic Park. He has now penned a new five-year contract with his club ruling out a move to the Emirates.
The player was also linked with a move to Liverpool and Tierney has admitted he was pleased to be linked with a move to the Premier League but he never thought of leaving Celtic.
“They are huge clubs and it’s the Premier League so of course you take a bit of pride in that.”
“But I never thought about leaving at all.
“My mates were winding me up, sending me screenshots of the stories as a joke but they knew I had no plans to leave.
“You think about the interest but it never crossed my mind to leave. I’m delighted to be here and sign that new contract.”
Tierney made 34 appearances for Celtic last season winning Scotland’s young player of the year award.
Arsenal will now have to turn it’s attention to other targets with the club said to be preparing a bid for Wolfsburg’s Ricardo Rodriguez.
