Arsenal have been handed a massive blow in signing French defender Djibril Sidibe he has put pen to paper to sign a five-year deal with Monaco despite strong interest from Arsenal.
The news has been confirmed by Monaco official website stating the 23-year-old has signed a five-year-deal with the club on Friday.
“I’m very proud to sign for AS Monaco, a historic club in the French league,” Sidibe told Monaco’s official website.
“I’m very happy to be here. I’m focused on the sporting side and AS Monaco is the club I was looking for, to take my career to the next level.”
Arsenal showed interest in signing the former Lille defender and made the situation more dramatic after showing interest in signing him in the last 48 hours.
It’s so sad to see Arsenal been linked with players and end up not following up. There were even reports suggesting he has signed for Arsenal as Guglielmo Cannavale of Sky Sports claimed that “a deal is close to being finalised with Arsenal”.
