Arsenal have pulled out of the race to sign Brazilian striker Gabriel Barbosa, according to reports.
It’s no longer secret that Wenger is keen on a striker and has been working actively to sign one since the end of last season.
One of the strikers the Gunners were linked with was Santos forward Gabriel Barbosa, also known as Gabigol. Gabigol is highly rated in Brazil and has been dubbed the “new Neymar” due to his performances. It was claimed Arsenal scouts have been impressed by his performances and were considering a summer move.
However, Arsenal have now pulled out of the race to sign the striker, leaving Juventus as favourites for his signature, according to Italian Journalist Emmanuele Giulianelli via the Sport review.
Giulianelli revealed this via his twitter account:
” Arsenal pulled out of the Gabigol deal a while back due to his contract being half owned by a third party. #afc”
” Lot of negotiations would need to be done with Santos board and the other owners. Would end up costing £30m at least. Juventus most likely.”
The Gunners have already missed out on two of its targets this summer. Jamie Vardy snubbed a move to Arsenal in favour of signing a new deal at the King Power Stadium while Arsenal also pulled out of the race to sign Higuain due to the player’s price tag.
