Arsenal could sign Valencia’s Shkodran Mustafi in the next 48 hours, according to reports.
It’s no secret that Wenger is looking to sign a centre back this summer as he searches for defensive reinforcements and he appears to be closing in on his top target. The French man had already made signing a defender his priority this summer transfer window but has been made to step up his efforts, following injuries to Per Mertesacker and Gabriel Paulista.
It was reported that Wenger had identified Mustafi as his priority target and he has now moved in quickly to sign the defender. The Gunners are currently in talks with Valencia over the services of the 24 year old but are yet to settle on a transfer fee.
However, the Daily Star claims the Gunners have also been in talks with the defender and a five year deal worth £75,000 a week has been agreed between both parties. The defender is now waiting for the go ahead from his club to undergo a medical at Arsenal
The player is expected to cost the Gunners about £30m despite having a release clause of £42m in his contract. Arsenal are confident of reaching an agreement with Valencia in the next few days.
Mustafi would become the Gunners’ fourth summer signing should he complete a move to the Emirates.
