Arsenal and Liverpool are set to go head to head in the race to sign Italy striker Andrea Belotti, according to reports.
Wenger spent almost the entire summer searching for a striker that would improve the first team before he finally signed Lucas Perez in the final days of the transfer window. The boss has now quickly turned his attention to the future and is interested in signing Italy youngster Belotti.
Belotti currently plies his trade for Italian outfit Torino and has been impressive since he joined the club last summer.
According to the Sun via the Daily Star, Arsenal have been attracted by the striker’s performances and are ready to make a move in the future.
However, it will not be easy for the club as Liverpool are also keen on the striker.
Jurgen Klopp has been impressed by the striker’s pace and wants to lure him to Anfield as soon as possible.
Wenger sees Belotti as a perfect replacement to Olivier Giroud who has impressed and frustrated fans with his performances in equal measure.
The striker will be available for as low as £12.5m next summer which shouldn’t be a problem for any of the Premier League clubs.
The striker scored 12 league goals for Torino last season, he has scored four goals already this term and is on course to surpass his last season’s tally.
