Arsene Wenger is ecstatic because of how well Alexis Sanchez is adapting to his new central forward role.

Wenger converted the Chilean to a centre-forward at the beginning of the season and he has adapted to the role perfectly well. The striker has scored five goals already this season and has created many others for his teammates.

The Chile international was also superb on Sunday afternoon against Burnley, and Wenger has praised the striker’s adaptation to his new role.

Speaking after the game against Basel, Wenger said, as quoted by the Daily Mail.

‘At the moment he looks like he has the ingredients to do very well there.

‘He’s getting stronger in every single game.’

Wenger was also quick to praise the team’s effort against Basel and the boss believes the team can continue to develop as the season progresses.

‘It looks like the team has interesting potential. We have to be ambitious and, as you know, keep our feet on the ground to continue to develop,’ he said.

‘We know exactly how we want to play football and we have to continue to stick to that and get better at it.

‘That demands big focus and some leadership inside the squad. It also requires humility.’

Sanchez has been instrumental for Arsenal since he joined from Barcelona in 2014. He had a below par campaign last year but his stellar performances in this early stage of the season indicates he will play a key role in the club’s title race this year should he stay fit and play to the best of his abilities.
